Sector 78-79 Gurugram Update
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has officially launched a construction project to eliminate a major traffic bottleneck affecting sectors 78 and 79. This development was made possible after the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) successfully negotiated a resolution to a long-standing land acquisition dispute. The initiative focuses on a critical 120-metre stretch that previously forced motorists onto a single narrow road, leading to frequent congestion and safety hazards. Officials expect to finish this specific roadwork within three months, providing much-needed relief to commuters traveling toward Shikohpur and the Southern Peripheral Road. Additionally, the authority has planned a larger infrastructure expansion involving a 2.5-km road between sectors 78 and 80, estimated to cost ₹30 crore. This broader effort includes the installation of main carriageways, drainage systems, and pedestrian footpaths to enhance local connectivity.
